The Urban Music People (UMP) Awards are making a grand return in 2025, celebrating the best of Malawian and African music talent. This year’s edition introduces an expanded list of 25 categories covering core music awards, genre-specific accolades, performance and visual excellence, international recognitions, and special awards.
Key Award Categories:
- Core Categories include Artist of the Year (Male & Female), Best New Artist, Best Gospel Act, and Producer of the Year.
- Genre-Specific Categories recognize Hip Hop, Amapiano, Reggae/Dancehall, Afrobeat, and Traditional/Indigenous music.
- Performance & Visual Excellence honors Best Collaboration, Best Music Video, Best Live Act, and Best Duo/Group.
- African/Regional/International Categories spotlight top artists across Africa, including the Global Impact Award for Malawian artists making waves internationally.
- Special Recognitions include the Lifetime Achievement Award, Humanitarian Award, and Best Fans.
